Description (Physical description)
A number of hand-coloured plates from Edward Upham's 'The History and doctrine of Budhism popularly illustrated; with notices of the Kappooism, or demon worship, and of the Bali, or planetary incantations, of Ceylon'. The book contained 'forty-three lithographic prints from original Singalese designs'. Some of the pages have traces of dark card or paper on the reverse where they have been mounted. One has pencil drawings of male and female faces on the reverse, apparently after European paintings.

Description (Physical description)
Lithographic print displaying deities and demons of the Sri Lankan Bali tradition. Depicted are nine deities, all numbered with their names given alongside them. Eight are depicted in two columns of four along the edge of the print with a single central figure depicted in the centre. The central figure is titled 'No. 1 Hiru', and is shown standing on the back of a white stallion with a kris dagger in the hand. Each of the other deities are shown with an animal or human figure alongside them. The number 28 is printed in the top right corner and the title 'Nawaggraha Mangalle' is printed along the lower edge.
