Context (Analysis)
Cf. London Museum Medieval Catalogue, especially Plate XXX no. 28 (though this example also has key wards on the bottom edge of the bit) - a Type V key from Town Ditch, Newgate, London. Type V keys are reported to date from throughout the Middle Ages. As such, the Period field has simply been filled as 'Medieval'.
