Context (Found together / assemblage)
Nine apparently unaccessioned keys (TEMP.00728-TEMP.00735) were found together in the museum store. Some or all of them may have been accessioned and become disassociated with their museum number, or they may never have been formally accessioned into the museum's collection. Five of these keys (TEMP.00728-TEMP.00731.1-2) have been identified as belonging to the Braybrooke Collection (see individual Context notes). All nine keys were found with a note reading 'NO PROV'.

Context (Production / use)
Whilst the label identifies this key as coming from the Roman villa site of Foxcote, excavated by Lord Chandos in 1839, this key is of a very different form to TEMP.00731.1. The cusped bow in particular suggests it to be of Post Medieval date. As such, the Period field has been filled as 'Post Medieval'. How this key came to be associated with either Foxcote or TEMP.00731.1 is currently unknown.
