Description

Crotal bell with intact suspension loop. Two holes in the upper half of the body, and two more connected by an elongated sound slot in the lower half. The outer surface appears undecorated, though it is quite highly corroded, apart from a maker's mark in the shape of a hammer or 'T' on the lower half. The inner contains a small sub-angular 'pea' of unknown material.

Nineteen apparently unaccessioned crotal bells (TEMP.00685-TEMP.00703) were found together in the museum store. Some or all of them may have been accessioned and become disassociated with their museum number, or they may never have been formally accessioned into the museum's collection.
