Description
Small crotal bell with intact suspension loop. Two holes in the upper half of the body, and two more connected by an elongated sound slot in the lower half. There is also a sub-rounded hole in the upper half near the suspension loop, presumably damage sustained at some point after casting. Both halves are decorated with radiating lines, whilst the lower half also bears a maker's mark in the form of a '2' set within a shield. The inner contains a sub-rounded cast iron 'pea'.

Context (Found together / assemblage)
Nineteen apparently unaccessioned crotal bells (TEMP.00685-TEMP.00703) were found together in the museum store. Some or all of them may have been accessioned and become disassociated with their museum number, or they may never have been formally accessioned into the museum's collection.
