From Bone Trench, South Face, Meroe. Excavated in 1968-1969, possibly by Peter Lewis Shinnie who excavated at Meroe 1965-1976 and 1983-1984. (See Boozer 2017)

Context (Found together / assemblage)
Three boxes of unaccessioned animal bone, etc. (TEMP.00709-TEMP.00711) were found stored in boxes marked 'Meroe 67' [sic?] and 'Meroe 69'. In one was a site plan entitled '1968-69 Bone Trench South Face'. It is not currently clear why this material is in the Museum, who sent it, or whether it was intended for permanent deposit; it may have been sent for analysis or testing. If it was not intended to be a permanent gift, it is not currently known where it should be held.
