Description
Clam-shaped cast bell with visibly machined edges and suspension loop. Each side is decorated so as to resemble a fish or amphibian, with eyes placed atop an elongated open sound slot. Additional decoration on each side entails scrolling designs on both lower and upper halves, separated by two parallel straight lines across the middle. In the centre of each upper half is an abstract design that may be intended to resemble a ?Chinese writing character. The inner contains a sub-angular 'pea' of unknown material.

Found in Museum stores in a bag with unaccessioned Post Medieval crotal bells (TEMP.00679-TEMP.00684.1-2). However the relation between them is uncertain.
