Description

A spherical crotal bell of cast copper alloy. The bell has: a sub-rectangular loop with an oval hole; a circular sound hole on either side of the top half; a pronounced ridge around the centre; a narrow slot across the bottom with a circular hole at each end; a spherical iron pea inside, now in multiple fragments. Both halves have embossed decoration, consisting of radiating drop-shapes or petals; those on the lower half have a line down the centre. On one side of the slot is an embossed hammer symbol, consisting of a hammer within a circle.

Description (Physical description)
Spherical crotal bell with intact suspension loop. Two holes in upper half, and an elongated sound slot connecting two further holes in the lower half. Both halves are covered with sunburst-style decoration, and the lower half also bears a maker's mark in the shape of a hammer or T-shape in a circle. The inner contains a spherical cast iron 'pea'.
