The Period field was originally populated with 'Roman', although this does not come from the Accession Register or the catalogue card. Due to the lack of context for this object, the fact that it was found stored with Post Medieval material, and the general ambiguity of small weights such as this, the Period field has been changed to '?Roman; ?Post Medieval' until a more secure date can be provided.

Description (Physical description)
Small bronze weight for a steelyard or similar measuring scale/balance. It consists of an onion-shaped mass with a flattened, slightly concave, bottom and a sub-circular suspension loop at the pointed apex.
