Rectangular length of woven cotton textile. Purple with green horizontal stripes with double yellow/gold bands and bands of vertical yellow or white designs.

Context (Found together / assemblage)
Found with four other un-accessioned and unlabelled textile fragments under the table in the textile store in 2003. A note by Tabitha Cadbury reads 'TIBET or NOT? Found under table in Shorts Textile 1 14/8/2003'. No visible numbers or labels.
However the style and patterns are reminiscent of Asia and Malaysian textiles. It is possible that these are part of a larger group of un-accessioned Skeat textiles, some of which were found stored in the Textile store in 2005 during the Shorts DCF Project, and were never fully rationalised.
Presumed to be part of the W.Skeat collections, comprising two separate collections, Skeat I (originally donated in 1899) and Skeat II (purchased in 1902). Neither of these collections were fully accessioned until the 1980s (?1985-6) when objects was given Z numbers. The black printed number and letter suffixes adhered to objects and often listed on the catalogue cards may be display numbers, as the collection was exhibited without accessioning.

Context (Amendments / updates)
This object does not bear any labels or inscriptions to identify it as part of the Skeat Collections. It is unclear whether it was ever stored in a box or with a note to link it to Skeat, but because there is nothing on the object and the notes left by previous members of staff do not explain why Skeat was assigned as the source, this has now been removed.
