Context (Acquisition Details)
According to the Blue Book and the Accession Register, this object was donated by Baroness von Hügel in 1912. The object's mount suggest that the donor was Baron Anatole von Hügel. The 1912 Annual Report p.7 reads: 'Archaeological: [...] From Baroness Anatole von Hugel the Museum has received an interesting series of locks and keys of various dates, which she collected in Morocco and the Canary Islands in 1911.'

Description (Physical description)
A metal spring padlock with a key. The padlock consists of two parts. The largest component of the padlock [.1] is a rectangular bar with a shank extending upwards and at a right angle. The padlock has a second component [.2] which is inserted to complete the lock. A corresponding key is present [.3].

Context (Acquisition Details)
None of the 10 padlocks and keys accessioned as 1912.382-391 were marked with their IDNOs. Their mount was, however, marked with their Blue Book numbers. As they were not itemised in the Accession register for Archaeology, they have been assigned an IDNO in the order in which they appear in the Blue Book.
