Context (Analysis)
Cf. similar amphorae in the Stanfordbury finds, of the first half of the 1st century A.D. Other finds suggesting Roman influence before the Conquest are known from Barrington, e.g. an early Arretine vessel (1924.943).
The complete amphora may have lost its number and has been given a Z -number as unprovenanced: Z 27322 is a possible candidate.

Cigarette butts, burnt matches and other detritus found in bottom of broken amphora, possibly the remnants of (student life?) when it was owned by Trinity College (pre-1914).
