Description (Physical description)
A) large drum used in " Periyamelam" temple orchestra, it loud tone being especially suited to outdoor performances. Body is hollowed out of a single block of wood, usually jack wood. Skins usually of buffalo or sheep hide. Played with a stick in left hand, with hand and wrist on right side. B & C) sticks of a hard, dense wood.
