Handwritten label affixed by string reads: '461. (weaving loom) string holder. boda gurdo. horse leg. Korodia.'
Event Date

Context (Other)
The handwritten label attached to this object is virtually identical to those on 1937.1097.1-4, identifying it as being collected by Samson. Like 1937.1097.1-4, this is part of a loom but unlike that idno, the collector's number given on the label is 461 rather than 453. Therefore, rather than assuming it belongs to the 1937.1097 loom, this group has been given a TEMP number.

Context (Field collection)
This object is numbered 461, which corresponds to an item on Otto Samson's list of his collection from Mayurbhanj, Odisha [Orissa], a photocopy of which is in MAA Archive BA4/2/25. Samson's list records it as "461 String holder". It appears from the list that multiple items were given the single accession number 1937.1099. However, the Accession Register records only the brush from the loom (the middle item on the list) as 1937.1099. There are likely to be many other parts of this loom assemblage which have not been given a physical MAA number, but which will have Samson labels with his numbers and descriptions.
