Description
Wooden staff or stave, possibly a police constable's walking stave. The top quarter is painted with Royal Arms and arms for the town of Cambridge on a dark blue background, ending in a line of yellow, the remaining bottom section of the staff is painted black. Above the royal coat of arms is the letter 'R', probably part of a royal cypher. Between the two coats of arms is the inscription 'Hy Headly Esq, Mayor 1839'. Cylindrical in shape and of even thickness, two ends worn indicating pieces possibly missing.
