Context (Other owners)
Professor Thomas McKenny Hughes donated two distinct collections from Acland (possibly Rev. C.L. Acland), which are recorded in the 1913 Annual Report: one from Peru and one from the Shetland Islands. This object is one of those from the Shetland Islands, which is listed in the 1913 Annual Report (AR 1913.410-412). However, it is possible that the collection came in earlier, as a label in von Hugel's hand on TEMP.00562 reads 'Dep 1892'; possibly McKenny Hughes gave money to purchase the collection so that it entered the museum's permanent collection. In either case, it does seem as though it was not given a proper accession number: the Annual Report entry was pasted into the 1913 Accession Register, possibly as a place holder.
