Description (Physical description)
A large bell without clapper, made from sheet metal. There is a small, twisted loop handle on a short shaft. The surface is rusted and there is a section of the rim missing.

Context (Amendments / updates)
The catalogue card for Z 13379 reflects the confusion around the duplication of the Thomas numbers in Thomas' catalogue, debating whether Z 13379 applies to a basket, a bell or both. The mystery has now been solved and the investigation infolding on the card no longer relevant. Z 13379 refers to the bell only. But the photograph on the back of the Z 13379 is a photograph of the basket accessioned as Z 13359.

On page 48 of The Thomas Collection catalogue - '2043 " [Basket]' typed on the right page. There is no corresponding entry in pencil on the left hand page. [This is 2043 A, a basket that was accessioned as Z 13359]. On page 49, the entry reads '2043 Bell' typed on the right page. There is no corresponding entry in pencil on the left hand page. [This object was accessioned as Z 13379].
