Description
Ebu. A thin walking stick or staff with carved decoration. The lower two-thirds of the stick is carved with grooves to represent stacked rings. The top has incised diamond and zig-zag motifs, with four slits cut through one section to create a hollow chamber.

Context (Production / use)
The slits cut into the shaft are reminiscent of those on staffs Z 20317 to Z 20341 which are made to hold a rattling element. There may have originally been a rattle inside this staff, or it may simply be carved to represent this.
