Small gilded sar daik manuscript chest. The front panel depicts three scenes from the Jataka Birth story of Waythandaya (Vessantara). The main body of the chest is gilded, with the lid and base decorated with red lacquer. There is damage to the outside of the manuscript chest, pieces of lacquer and gilt have come away from the chest revealing the wood below.
