Description (Physical description)
Loose silk painting which is very damaged, there are pieces of silk breaking away from the main piece, with parts of the silk missing completely. It is almost impossible to move without the silk disintegrating and therefore must be carefully handled. The painting is currently held between two pieces of thin card to try and preserve them, and reduce any handling of the actual object.
The painting depicts a dancing scene with two dancers, musicians and an audience. The two dancers have more gilded decoration than the rest of the group. There are four musicians playing a variety of instruments including a drum, tambourine and two trumpet-like instruments. The audience appear to be commoners suggested through their clothing. Some of the women have gilt jewellery however the men are just painted. The whole scene takes place in a jungle or garden.
