Description (Physical description)
Japanese painting depicting two male soldiers looking towards the left. They are wearing the same clothing suggesting military uniform, in addition both figures are carrying a sword and large hat. The painting is accompanied with a large inscription across the top. The background of the painting suggests that the soldiers are in a ravine or gorge of some sort, potentially under attack by their facial expressions. There are two orange-red lines in the left of painting which is coming from a village between the hills, suggesting the lines are fire. There also appears to be a river coming down the hillside directly behind the two men.
The painting itself is fragile, with multiple tears around the side, however the painting itself is not damaged, just the border surrounding it. The paper is also starting to curl particularly across the top.
