Typed label reads 'Sir Edward Fitzgerald Campbell, 2nd Bt., Col. In the Army, Lt-Col. 60th Foot, A.D.C., to gen. Sir Charles Napier, when C. -in- C., India, and to Lord Dalhousie and Lord Canning, born 25 October 1822, married 25 Oct. 1853, Georgiana Charlotte TheTheophila (d. 17 Oct. 1872), 2nd daughter of Sir Theophilius Metcalfe, 4th BT, and had issue,'. The label appears to be an old newspaper cutting.

Typed label adhered to the back panel of the frame reads 'TWO MOUNTED WATERCOLOURS BOTH CAPTIONED "TEMPLE RUINS", accompanied each by a small label at the back. 1. "TEMPLE RUINS" C. 1840 Sir Edward Fitzgerald Campbell It depicts the Shwe Dagon Pagoda, shown on the right of the picture [paid £35] 2. Sir Edward Fitzgerald Campbell "English soldier guarding temple ruins'. c. 1840. [paid £25] INFORMATION ON SIR EDWARD FITZGERALD CAMPBELL: 2nd Bt., Col. In the Army, Lt-Col. 60th Foot, A.D.C., to gen. The note dates the two watercolours to c.1840 however in Singer's original inventory the date attributed to paintings 1852, at the time of the Second Anglo Burmese War. It is unclear what date is the correct one and therefore both have been entered into the Period field.

Description (Physical description)
Two framed watercolours of scenes in and around the Shwe Dagon Pagoda in Ragoon. There is no visible artist signature however they appear to have been painted by the same person. The top watercolour depicts a pagoda in the background with greenery in front whereas the bottom painting focuses on three smaller pagodas and one larger one.
