Description (Physical description)
Framed painting on black satin originally intended for a folding fan and depicting a series of scenes from an unknown story. There are multiple figures depicted in the scenes including royalty, attendants, warriors and spiritual beings.
From the left hand side, the top row of scenes depict a woman behind a man with sword and possibly a 'magic' cane defending against an armed nat or other spirit. Behind the nat is a man with his hand towards to entity. Following this there are two seated figures who appear to be commoners possibly leaving offerings. In front of them are two seated figures, one female and one male who is sitting on a cushion. The following scene shows the two same figures from before, but with their heads downwards as if they were showing respect. In front of them are four male figures with crowns, two court ladies and a king seated on a cushion. The inner row of figures show two men, possibly commoners bowing to a court lady, possibly a queen or princes. The rest of that row appears to be the same scene, with the two reoccurring male figures seated behind six court ladies, a lady on a swing who appears to be the focal point of the scene.
The painting is framed in an ornate gold mirror. The back of the frame has a metal wire attached.
