Description (Physical description)
A Ko-kaw-tee bowl covered in black lacquer and thayo (paste of lacquer and ash.) and gilded The inscription on the underside notes the name of the maker and the location. The thayo takes the form of loops and tendrils and eight inverted triangular panels each with a different tribal figure of the locality, carrying an offering - one is blowing a reed pipe. It is thought that these figures represent the subjects of the Sao Pha, or Chief of Kengtung, and they are shown coming to pay their respects at the haw (palace). A small medallion on the underside with the inscription is in the shape of a kow-kaw-tee.
