A typed label adhered to the exterior of the lid reads '18'. This is in reference to an inventory of lacquerware seen amongst the collector's paperwork written on 14th April 1999.

Description (Physical description)
A bamboo betel box in four parts. Covered in lacquer and decorated in red, brown, ?yellow, and black. The lid depicts a male figure wearing a turban riding a chariot drawn by a pair of caparisoned horses. He is attended by five men armed with curved swords. The lid is heavily damaged with a large area of lacquer missing. The side panels consist of a curios collection astrological and other unknown symbols. From the white indicator these are: three vases (Aquarius), four scorpions (Scorpio), four naga dragons (?), two birds (?), and one animal - unable to identify. The side panel has a textile design on. The underside of the base depicts a procession of six Toes (mythical lions). The base has a flared base and panel of moulded put-lone (pillars). it has been varnished.
