Description
A small portable betel box possibly made of horsehair, the lid and base only - the base is bamboo. It has been covered with lacquer and decorated in green, orange, yellow, black, and red. It has been decorated with the twelve signs of the zodiac in sequence around the side and the days of the week on the top out of sequence. The inside depicts twelve birds in panels. The underside of the base depicts a bird.

Description (Labels & Markings)
A label adhered to the exterior reads '29'. This is in reference to an inventory of lacquerware seen amongst the collector's paperwork written on 14th April 1999. The interior is marked 'B.L.7.N.F.S'. The 'BL' number is in reference to a previous inventory devised by the collector during the ?1980s, one version of this inventory was seen amongst the collectors paperwork dated to 12th July 1983. A small arrow on the lid marked '3' can be seen referencing a day of the week. A label adhered ot the underside of the base reads '7' but it is unclear to which, if any, inventory it refers.
