Description

A small portable bamboo betel box, the lid and base only are present. It is covered with lacquer and decorated in red, brown, yellow and black. The lid is decorated with three running men, two armed with a musket and the other with a curved sword, rock formations and a tree, a bird and a seated male. In the centre are two fishes. The underside of the base depicts a horned beast and foliage.

Description (Physical description)
A small portable bamboo betel box, the lid and base only are present. It is covered with lacquer and decorated in red, brown, yellow and black. The lid is decorated with three running men, two armed with a musket and the other with a curved sword, rock formations and a tree, a bird and a seated male. In the centre are two fishes. The underside of the base depicts a horned beast and foliage. A small arrow is stuck to the lid as a starting point for the physical descriptions order of figures. A label on the underside of the base reads '5' but it is unclear to which, if any, inventory this refers.

Description (Labels & Markings)
A label adhered to the exterior reads '15'. This is in reference to an inventory of lacquerware seen amongst the collector's paperwork written on 14th April 1999. The interior is marked 'B.L.4.N.F.S'. The 'BL' number is in reference to a previous inventory devised by the collector during the ?1980s, one version of this inventory was seen amongst the collectors paperwork dated to 12th July 1983.
