Description

A large Ko-kaw-tee bowl made of bamboo and covered in black lacquer and ornately decorated and gilded. The fine decoration is made in thayo, a mixture of lacquer and ash. There is a medallion on the underside of the bowl with the name of the craftsman. There is a hole in one side and the handle is missing.

Description (Labels & Markings)
A label adhered to the interior reads 'BL.33.N.F.S'. The 'BL' number is in reference to a previous inventory devised by the collector during the ?1980s, one version of this inventory was seen amongst the collectors paperwork dated to 12th July 1983.

A label adhered to the exterior reads '61'. This is in reference to an inventory of lacquerware seen amongst the collector's paperwork written on 14th April 1999.
