Context (Analysis)
McKenny Hughes (1915) notes that 'Of leather objects there is a large quantity, chiefly boots and shoes in which the threads have entirely perished, so that the pieces of leather have fallen apart and show the holes made by the stitches...' (p. 25). He goes on to date the shoes to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries (p. 27).
