Description (Display)
'Another India: Explorations and Expressions of Indigenous South Asia' 07/03/2017 - 22/04/2018 MAA exhibition label text reads:

Art and Appropriation

Marguerite Milward collected many artefacts on her expeditions, which appear throughout this exhibition. These ornaments purchased in Hubli in 1936 match those worn by Mamie in the sculpture and photograph above.
The necklace with coins added to an older amulet shows that collecting was the latest act of appropriation and repurposing that transformed these objects.

4. Torc

Patches of incised and punched pattern have been worn down, showing it to be fairly old.
