Context (CMS Context)
This object is listed in a letter sent by Reverend Edgell to the Museum, now in the archives (OA2/1/2) - it is listed as no.20 [hence the number in pencil underneath the box]: 'In a small pill box: 2. Very small fish hooks (mother o’ pearl) with two eyes painted on the bottom of each. These are very brittle indeed, through they easily hold the dish they are used for. A knob at the end of the long arm of each is [word illegible] to make the line fast to. Great care must be taken in handling them. [All the things in the box are rather rare, being very hard to make.].'
