Labels & inscriptions: 'MALA' inscribed in blue pencil on the blade. '22' inscribed in pencil on the blade [probably a number given by O’Ferrall and reflecting a typological classification]. '637' inscribed in black ink on the lower part of the blade [MAA number]. An old label glued on the shaft reads: 'Paddle / Mala / 22' and 'head hunters' in very faded ink.

Description (CMS Description)
Long paddle of light coloured wood, with long and thin blade. The blade is decorated with motifs in black and red pigments – triangles, ?birds and a fish with a tail terminating in two birds’ heads. Same motifs on the other side, but only in black pigments. The end of the shafted is carved in the shape of an inverted cone. The pommel is narrow and slightly crescent shaped.
