An old museum label attached to the shaft reads: ‘Inspected March / 1931. Locality of / origin considered / uncertain [signed by Hayter]’ in black ink on one side and ‘Z 10768 / G’ inscribed in pencil on the other.

Context (Amendments / updates)
This shape of object, although reminiscent of the Solomon Islands clubs, are more akin to clubs from New Caledonia or Vanuatu (L. Carreau, 23/02/2016).

Description (Physical description)
Club of heavy dark wood with a beak-shaped blade. On both sides, a longitudinal ridge runs from the bent part to the tip of the blade. The shaft is oval in section and very thick, with an expending butt.
