Description (CMS Description)
Club used in dancing. Monoxyle and heavy. The entire surface of the head has been rubbed with lime (very faded now). The head of the club is canoe-shaped, tapering to a point and curving upwards. The head is decorated with geometrical motifs in red and black pigments on all sides (very faded). On the upper side, there are two triangular faces curving upwards carved in relief. Two sides of the club are carved with two small lugs, with three perforations (one chipped), to which are attached tassels/pendants of plant fibre. The handle is thick and circular in section, much darker in colour than the rest of the object and terminates in a conical knob. A 'skirt' of vegetable fibre is attached to the handle as well as a cord of plaited plant fibre to which are attached pendants of hollow cane and seeds. A very large crack runs from the handle to the top of the head.
