Description
White feather headdress, 'dhari' or 'dari'. The feathers are mounted on a plant fibre framework and secured with black rope. The feathers fan out in a semi-elliptical shape, with the bottom feather either side extending horizontally. Some feathers show traces of red and or black pigment. A brown cloth band has been attached to the back of the frame with cable ties to facilitate wearing the headdress. The inner portion of the frame work contains a horizontal plant fibre and rope band and an M shape strip of plant fibre and rope surmounted by a plant fibre and rope oval leaf-shaped structure.

The headdress was worn by Laurie Nona during a performance of the Zugobal Dancers in the Maudslay Gallery at MAA on 17/6/2015. After the performance Laurie Nona and Alick Tipoti presented Senior Curator Anita Herle with the headdress.
