Context (Amendments / updates)
The additional number recorded with this object (O.III) is an old classification system devised by Anatole von Hügel. 'O' stands for Oceania and the Roman numeral applies to a geographical area of the Pacific. Attempts to reconstruct Von Hügel's classification system have been made by Sarah Jane Harknett and Lucie Carreau. 'O.III' is not usually given to objects from the Solomon Islands - it seems to be mainly associated to objects from New Guinea. This may indicate that the classification of this object as from the Solomon Islands probably occurred when this object was Z-ed and may not be correct.
