Description

Forehead ornament formed of a disc of turtle-shell carved in openwork mounted on a disc of Tridacna shell. Both discs are perforated in their centres, secured together with a vegetable fibre cord and decorated with a tassel of white and pink shell beads, and black coconut wood beads. Carved motifs recall frigate birds and fish.
