Context (Analysis)
Dr Anita Herle noted in July 2011 that Chris Chippindale had given a talk about rock art in the USA and was offered some early Central Desert dot paintings for sale. He bought these but/because they were suspected as fakes, it was considered that they could be used in the handling collection. Dr Chippindale could be asked to enquire of their authenticity of his contacts in Australia as different techniques were probably used to produce them.

The dot painting was sent via in the post to Dr Chris Chipindale by Eric Bromberg in 2001 (see associated shipping list with object from La Jolla, California dated 4-9-01, ?9th April 2001).
