Description
Bow - A bundle of three bows, unaccessioned, unprovenanced, and unmarked.
All three bows are self-bows (being made from one piece of wood).
1 bow is circular in cross section and the nock on either end takes the form of a small notch at the flat tipped ends. There is the remains of the bow string, a double-corded rope, at either end of the bow though this is largely missing. This bow shows a lot of damage to one end with the wood splintering.
1 bow is D-shaped in cross section with tapered shaped nocks at either end. The bow string is a double-corded string that is still in situ.
1 bow is D-shaped in cross section with tapered shaped nocks at either end. A detached bow string was seen with the group of bows and arrows TEMP.00049-TEMP.00052 and it is possible that the stray bow string is part of this bow.
