Context (Amendments / updates)
This pane of glass was found stored with 1886.36 A-E, but was not marked with an idno nor did it have an object label affixed to it (as 1886.36 A-E do). It was accessioned in 2014 after it could not be matched with any accession number. Its provenance is currently unknown but, since it was found with material donated by the Cambridge Antiquarian Society from Castle Acre Priory, this information has been tentatively entered. More research is required to discover its provenance. Another pane of glass was found in 2016 and given a temporary number (TEMP.00232), in line with current museum policy.

Context (Amendments / updates)
The original entry for 1886.36 B suffix implies that it was a glass pane with lead lining. Only the lead lining was seen in 2001, in a roughly circular shape, and presumably earlier to judge by the type of object label attached to it by string. Found with 1886.36 A-E were two pieces of stained glass not marked with accession numbers, the head of a female saint and the lower half of a body wearing a gown or robes (subsequently assigned 2014.133 and TEMP.00232, respectively). Both of these objects have been wrapped with very fine metal wires, presumably not for conservation purposes as the head of the saint is not cracked. It is perhaps possible that the round lead lining once fit around the rounded upper section of the female head and that the bottom half of a robed figure was thought to belong to her so that the metal wires were used to suspend the bottom section from the top, since the middle section of the figure no longer exists. If this is the case, then the lead lining (1886.36 B), the head (2014.133) and the bottom (TEMP.00232) are all part of the same object: 1886.36 B. More research will need to be undertaken, however, before this can be determined definite. In the meantime, 1886.36 B has been tentatively added to the Idno field.

Context (Analysis)
Jasmine Allen, curator of the Stained Glass Museum, examined this object on 29 June 2016 and dates this piece to probably the 15th century. She notes that the style is similar to what used to be referred to as the Norwich School of glass painting. The Period field has been updated accordingly. In addition, she noted the strong resemblance between it and Z 39517; they might be from the same workshop.
