Basketwork shield, with patterning in black. On inner side a guard made from part of banana stem. Attached ornament made of feathers, worked into a round ball which is fastened to the end of a spike. Coiled basketry technique, with the sewing strips interlocking with the strips of previous coil. The coils are flat, varying in width from 1/4" on/ outer rim to 3/4" in centre.
