Context (CMS Context)
Amiria Salmond, 2.08.2001: It is likely that the inscription 'MERE' on both artefacts refers not to a place name but to an (erroneous) indigenous term for the objects. A mere is a type of handclub.
Record checked and revised by Amiria Salmond (2001.08.02).
