Description
Spear thrower. Shaft consists of simple, straight, flattened piece of wood; at one end a wooden point is fixed into mass of resin; at the other the shaft is cut out on both sides to form serviceable handle.

AR. 1886.67, (10-22).’ The Annual Report for 1886, p.3 reads ‘In those cases in which the objects have not been presented directly, but have been purchased with money subscribed to the Museum Accession Fund, an asterisk is prefixed to the name of the donor.’
[Later addition handwritten in pencil:] ‘16/1/79 I found 11 spear throwers given by Brunel in 1886; 5 of them have been Z-ed i.e. Z 1357, Z 1360, Z 1361, Z 1361, Z 1363 = Z 1364. Individual cards have been made for each spear thrower. All the objects have O.I. numbers on them, p.t.o.’;
