Description
Burnished red ware stirrup-spout vessel, possibly a pot. Flat everted rim; cylindrical upright spout; splits into curved 'stirrup'; globular body, with incised geometric and zoomorphic motifs, possibly three jaguars or bats; terminates with a flat base. Surface has a red and black hue; some material loss at spout; evidence of possible reconstruction throughout the body and base. Found with a bag of unknown sand-like material, originating from inside the vessel.

Stirrup spout pot. Almost spherical body with flattened base; cylindrical upright spout with everted rim splits into a sharply curved 'stirrup'. Highly burnished body. Decorated with three incised jaguar heads and triangular lines.

Context (Analysis)
Professor Dennis Ogburn, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, took a small scraping from the interior of the vessel in January 2018. The sample will be tested for alkaloids using LCMS at Kingston University to ascertain whether the vessel contained psychoactive compounds.
