Description
Beadwork necklace of small, plastic beads, composed of a series of open pyramidal shapes. The sides of the pyramids are made of white beads. The bases are made up of black, green, yellow, blue, purple and orange beads. A ball and loop fastening is made up of white beads. The apexes of the pyramids face inwards towards the centre of the necklace, forming two halves of opposing directions which join at the centre.

This necklace was purchased on 27 April 2000 from The BAT Centre, 45 Maritime Place, Small Craft Harbour, Durban. The BAT Centre business card states: 'Specialists in contemporary Zulu art and craft. Retail and wholesale'
This object was collected by Julia Tanner while undertaking fieldwork in South Africa from March-May 2000. The fieldwork was financed by MAA's Crowther-Beynon Fund, in order to research and update MAA's South African collections.

Beadwork necklace of unusual design, composed of a series of open pyramidal shapes. The sides of the pyramids are made of white beads. The bases are made up of black, green, yellow, blue, purple and orange beads. A ball and loop fastening mechanism is made up of white beads. The apexes of the pyramids face inwards towards the centre of the necklace, forming two halves of opposing directions which join at the centre with a 3-pointed link.
