Description (CMS Description)
Circular woven basket made from undyed coconut or pandanus leaf. Square plaited twill base joined to the sidewall by two woven bands. The sidewall is made from three horizontal bands of vertical plaited twill. A lighter colour thread has been woven diagonally across the basket but does not form any particular pattern. Four lengths of three-ply plaited plant leaves have been threaded through the sides starting at the base and extending from the top to form handles. (Heather Donoghue 25.06.2012)

Labels & inscriptions: 'Z 5192 C' inscribed twice in black ink inside the object. A small label attached to the object reads: 'Z 5192 [crossed off 'D'] F' [incorrect numbers]. A round label with metallic rim reads: 'Z 5192 / [crossed off 'NO NUMBER / NO LOCATION] / 5 BASKETS / P.T.O.' on one side and 'Z 5192 / A-E / RIVERS / SOLOMONS' on the other.
