Description (CMS Description)
Circular woven basket made from undyed coconut or pandanus leaf. Square horizontal plaited twill base with two concentric bands, one of chequer plaiting and one of vertical twill plaiting. The sidewall is made from fine vertical twill plaiting with a band of horizontal twill plaiting below the rim. The rim has been made separately in wider diagonal chequer plaiting and is woven into the finer sidewalls leaving frond-like ends around the inside. (Heather Donoghue 25.06.2012)
