Description (CMS Description)
Bamboo flute made from a piece of bamboo sealed at both ends by a node. The top has a short section of bamboo above the node, which has been divided in half. One half is cut into a leaf shape and the other half is square. Four holes have been cut through the bamboo: one in the base, one on the shaft near the base and two more along the shaft near the top. The topmost hole is the widest and forms the mouthpiece. An incised drawing of a sailing ship with a pattern of diagonal lines on the sail occurs halfway down the shaft, aligned horizontally.
