Context (Acquisition Details)
Professor Dame Marilyn Stathern, William Wyseman Professor of Anthropology, 1993- 2008, Cambridge University, who conducted fieldwork in the PNG Highlands and in Port Moresby from the 1960s onward. Displayed in the donor’s rooms at Girton College.
(Bio) Tiabe was from the Southern Highlands, but met Georgina Bier when she ran art workshops at the Laloki Mental Home, Port Moresby, 1967-8. This produced PNG's first "outsider" artists, including Tiabe, Kupialdo, Sukoro, Hape and Mathias, whose artwporks were shown at the university library in 1968. Some of his works such as ‘Accident’ distrust of Western technology.

Description (CMS Description)
Screen-print on paper by Tiabe, titled ‘Accident’, dated c.1968. Inscribed in pencil 'Accident 21/50a Sept’ 68 Tiabe'. Condition: Good, but yellowing with creases and tears to edges. Crease in centre of image.
