Gerrard, Edward (dates unknown) was head of a commercial firm dedicated to taxidermy and natural history specimens, based at 61 College Place in Camden Town from the early 1900s. He occasionally sold ethnographic material, notably parts of the Woodford collection and objects collected by Admiral Davis on HMS Royalist

Native name “Batjiran”. Collected by Admiral Davis, HMS Royalist, 1890-93. Bt E Gerrard, 61 College Place, Camden Town'. It was purchased by Beasley on 16 May 1916 for -/10/- [Lucie Carreau, 12/07/2017].

Description (CMS Description)
Monoxylene club of wood. The handle has a circular section. The blade has a lozenge section. The transition between both is not as clear as in 1954.76. The handle is pierced with a plaited fibre cord. The knot is undone.

RES.2017.2412 | Visit from Natan Itonga, Bryony Onciul and Anna Woodham. Anna and Bryony are on the AHRC project Enduring Connections which looks at climate change in Kiribati. Natan is an affiliate on the project. They are interested in Kiribati material culture
